Apple zal NFC toevoegen aan de nieuwe iPhone?

Heel erg lang geleden circuleerden er geruchten dat Apple NFC-ondersteuning wilden toevoegen aan de iPhone. Met NFC is het mogelijk om onder andere betalingen te verrichten met je iPhone. Dit kan dus dan bijvoorbeeld in een supermarkt gedaan worden.

Jim Peters, de CTO bij SITA, is ervan overtuigd dat Apple dit najaar een iPhone zal lanceren in oktober. NFC zal dan gebruikt worden in combinatie met de Passbook app, die zal lanceren samen met iOS 6. Dit zou kunnen kloppen, omdat Passbook al een applicatie is die in principe je portemonnee moet vervangen. Je kunt er tickets in kwijt, maar ook creditcardgegevens enzovoorts.

They are going to get people using it (the Passbook application) and then all of a sudden they will allow credit cards to be used in there, on the next iPhone, which will include NFC.

You need to get ready, this is coming. This is going to happen. By the end of the year the majority of smartphones that you go and buy will have NFC on them. If in October the next iPhone comes out and it has NFC on it, it’s game over.
